LOCAL HOUSING AUTHORTIES

Bayfield County Housing Authority

Bayfield County and City of Washburn Housing Authority provides quality, affordable housing, which is decent and safe, to eligible families. They offer a variety of rental rental units scattered throughout the City of Washburn and Bayfield County–Bayfield, Cable, Drummond, Grand View, Iron River, Port Wing– to low and moderate income families as well as rental assistance programs, most notably the Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8).

Ashland County Housing Authority

Ashland County Housing Authority was established on February 17, 1977 as a small organization helping individuals and families find suitable housing within Ashland County. Since those early days, they have expanded to serve Ashland, Bayfield, Douglas, Iron, Vilas, and Oneida counties plus the Red Cliff, Bad River, and Lac du Flambeau tribal reservations. The ACHA provides housing for low-income families and inviduals, as well as a variety of other services and programs for renters: Housing Choice Voucher Program (applications currently closed), Bayfield Electric Cooperative Public Benefits Program

Legal and Social Aid

LEGAL ACTION OF WISCONS!N helps clients find and keep safe and affordable housing. Most critically, if you’re facing eviction, they may be able to help. Other services addressed: lockouts, repairs, security deposits, subsidized housing issues.

THE BRICK provides assistance to people in need, providing compassionate, respectful help to families and individuals facing emergencies and crisis. Through their Benevolence Program, they help individuals who may need utility assistance, rent assistance as well as homelessness assistance.

Rights and Responsibilities

RENT SMART is a program through UW Extension in which participants can gain the knowledge and skills for a successful renting experience.
