4-H Giant Pumpkin & Sunflower Contest
Weigh in info below!
How it works:
This is a fun and educational Bayfield County 4-H contest open to all Cloverbuds, members, leaders, & parents. To sign up follow the above link to our online form, or email the 4-H office at Kaylie.Lukas@wisc.edu by May 1st. Indicate which seeds you need, and we will send out the seeds in the mail mid-April and early May.
To get a jump start, we recommend starting your seeds in pots in a sunny windowsill 3-4 weeks before planting them out. Once all danger of frost has passed you can plant them out in your garden, yard, or large pots.
Do your research! There are many growing techniques and tips and tricks for growing giant plants out there. Check out the internet or books in your local library for ideas. Or, check out the the guides below:
In the fall, a weigh in date will be scheduled and prizes, certificates, and bragging rights will go to the one with the heaviest pumpkin, tallest sunflower, & largest sunflower head. Prizes are awarded to each age category.
