Household Hazardous Waste Management – Clean Sweep

Household Hazardous Waste Collection (Clean Sweep) Sponsored by Northwest Regional Planning Commission partnered with Veolia.

The Hazardous Waste Collection will accept:
Household hazardous waste will be accepted at the above location and only at designated times. Items will be taken for free from residential properties, except for FEE ITEMS noted below.

Acceptable items at No Charge include:
oil-based paints, aerosol spray paints and lubricants, solvents, pesticides, fertilizers, household and hazardous cleaners, corrosives, flammables, mercury, lead tackle and shot, old gas, antifreeze, and other chemicals you wouldn’t consider dumping. Mercury containing thermostats, switches, and thermometers, and lead based paint will also be accepted. 

FEE ITEMS
The items below will be accepted at the collection events for a fee.
▪ $2.00 per circular & U shape fluorescent tube, & CFL bulb
▪ $2.00 per 4′ or less & 5’ and over fluorescent tube
▪ $2.00 per standard Incandescent light bulb
▪ $4.00 per shatter shield tube any size
▪ $6.00 per tanning bed or UV bulb
▪ $3.00 per HID or LED bulb
▪ $3.00 lb. PCB Ballast
▪ $2.00 lb. Non-PCB Ballast
▪ $10.00 lb. Lithium Ion & LI Primary Batteries
▪ $2.00 lb. All other batteries

The Hazardous Waste Collection will NOT accept:
Latex paint, empty paint cans, oil filters, motor oil, explosives, flares or fireworks, Freon 11 & 12, radioactive materials including smoke/Co2 alarms, ammunition, compressed gas cylinders of any size, recyclables, appliances, asbestos, biological or infectious wastes, sharps or EpiPen’s, spray foam cylinders, incandescent light bulbs, PFAS containing items.

Prescription & OTC Meds and Sharps Collection Sponsored by Bayfield County Health
Bayfield County Health will accept your Over The Counter (OTC) medication and prescription medications in a sealed container that you will place into a drop box. Sharps must be in an appropriate container as well. You will be asked  if you have an appropriate container at the check-in line. 

Businesses, Schools, Farms and Municipalities
Hazardous Waste – Businesses, schools, farms and municipalities must pre-register at least two weeks ahead of the event with Colin Barrington at Veolia for the event and should provide estimated quantities and payment information prior to arriving to the event.
Light Bulbs & Batteries – Businesses, schools, farms and municipalities should contact Warren Johnson at NWRP for payment information prior to arriving at the event.

Schedule for all the 2025 Northwest Clean Sweep events.
If you are a resident from a participating county, you are allowed to drop off your Household Hazardous Waste at any of the events on the schedule. However, please be aware that not every event will be collecting additional items, such as; medications and electronics.
